My Favourite Places to Marry Couples in Sydney
July 2026 · by Nicole Webster

One of the quiet privileges of this job is how many beautiful corners of Sydney I've stood in. Over the years I've married couples on clifftops, in backyards, on boats, and under more than a few gum trees. People often ask me where the "best" place to get married is, and the honest answer is: the one that means something to you. But if you're after a little inspiration, here are the settings I always come back to.
The harbour
It's the obvious one, and it earns it. There's something about vows spoken with the water behind you — the Opera House catching the light, a ferry drifting past at exactly the wrong (or perfect) moment. Spots like Mrs Macquarie's Chair and Bradleys Head are favourites for good reason, and a ceremony on the water itself is about as Sydney as it gets.
The Eastern Suburbs
This part of the city is close to home for me, so I might be a little biased. But between the coastal walks, the clifftop views, and some genuinely lovely garden venues, the Eastern Suburbs have a relaxed elegance that's hard to beat. It suits couples who want beautiful without fuss.
Gardens and estates
If your idea of perfect involves greenery and a bit of calm, Sydney delivers. The Royal Botanic Garden is a classic for a reason, and there are private estates and vineyards on the fringes of the city that feel a world away. Gardens also photograph beautifully in any season, which your photographer will thank you for.
The Northern Beaches and North Shore
For couples who want a bit more room to breathe — sweeping ocean on one side, leafy quiet on the other — these areas are wonderful. You'll find everything from beachfront reserves to polished waterfront venues, and the drive out tends to set a slower, calmer tone for the whole day.
Somewhere that's just yours
And then there are the ceremonies that stay with me most — the backyard where a couple had their first date years earlier, a family home, a park bench that meant something only they understood. A setting doesn't have to be famous to be perfect. Sometimes the most moving place is simply where your story started.
Wherever you land
I travel right across Sydney — the metro, Eastern Suburbs, Northern Beaches, Inner West, North Shore, and the south — so wherever you've set your heart on, I can meet you there. And if you're still deciding, I'm always happy to talk it through; I've probably stood in a few of the spots on your shortlist.
